I know, taking it all out on Nerdanel isn't fair, but she was the one person that could have just flat-out denied any false information re:the twins (plus by the time any of her sons are re-embodied she had probably attained a martyr-like status of perfection in the eyes of anyone in Aman, and I think it would be really really hard for them to deal with it - I think she'd be more of an aloof saint than a mother in their eyes, whereas they're pretty much on the other end of the spectrum in almost anyone else's eyes).
